The lear­ning plat­form Can­vas of­fers a wide range of op­ti­ons for pro­vi­ding lear­ning ma­te­ri­als, com­mu­ni­ca­ting with stu­dents and ac­com­pany­ing the lear­ning pro­cess. When crea­ting a cour­se, tea­chers have in­di­vi­du­al de­sign op­ti­ons thanks to va­rious set­tings and func­tio­na­li­ties.

For op­ti­mal pre­pa­ra­ti­on of your cour­se, it is ad­vis­able to fa­mi­lia­ri­ze yours­elf with the lear­ning plat­form be­fo­re the se­mes­ter be­gins.

At the end of the se­mi­nar you will re­cei­ve a com­pact check­list which you can use to check whe­ther you have made the most im­portant pre­pa­ra­ti­ons for your cour­se be­fo­re the start of the se­mes­ter.

  • Keep an over­view of all your cour­ses on the da­sh­board

  • Set ap­pro­pria­te no­ti­fi­ca­ti­on set­tings to be no­ti­fied by email about ac­ti­vi­ties from your cour­se

  • De­fi­ne cour­se set­tings and cus­to­mi­ze the vi­si­bi­li­ty and order of menu items in the left side menu

  • Edit cour­se home page to cus­to­mi­ze texts, ban­ner image and but­tons

  • Ma­nu­al­ly add peop­le to and re­mo­ve peop­le from cour­ses

  • Crea­te group sets, crea­te groups and use the group workspace

  • Use clas­sic com­mu­ni­ca­ti­on tools such as an­noun­ce­ments, dis­cus­sions and the inbox

The event is de­si­gned so that you can ask ques­ti­ons and exchan­ge ideas with others at any time. Best-​practice examp­les from tea­ching will give you ideas on how you can im­ple­ment your cour­se with Can­vas. There will also be prac­ti­cal sec­tions where you can crea­te con­tent yours­elf and try out what you have learnt.
