Initiated by the Institute for Business Education at WU Vienna, the first Austrian Business Education Convention took place on March 4, 2007.

A central goal of these annual conventions is to present the research and teaching work of the four Austrian Business Education locations to a specialist audience. The aim is to realize a theory-practice contact, because in addition to the academic staff of the four locations, representatives of the educational administration and directors of Austrian business (high) schools also take part in these conventions.

The contributions are documented and published in a special issue of the journal Wissenplus. There is an agreement among all the Austrian Business Education locations that the convention will take place at a different location each year. Each location has already successfully organized and hosted the convention at least three times, with the team in Graz being the first one to hold it "virtually" in 2021.
