Zoltán Novotny-​Farkas is full pro­fes­sor of In­ter­na­tio­nal Ac­coun­ting at the De­part­ment of Fi­nan­ce, Ac­coun­ting and Sta­tis­tics, WU Vi­en­na. He ear­ned his doc­to­ral de­gree at the Goe­the Uni­ver­si­ty of Frank­furt in 2011. Prior to his po­si­ti­on at WU, he was (se­ni­or) lec­tu­rer in ac­coun­ting and fi­nan­ce at Lan­cas­ter Uni­ver­si­ty (UK). He spent a year as vi­si­ting scholar at the Whar­ton School of the Uni­ver­si­ty of Penn­syl­va­nia. His re­se­arch fo­cu­ses on the eco­no­mic con­se­quen­ces of chan­ges in ac­coun­ting and ban­king re­gu­la­ti­ons, such as the in­tro­duc­tion of new In­ter­na­tio­nal Fi­nan­cial Re­por­ting Stan­dards (IFRS) or Basel III. He is par­ti­cu­lar­ly in­te­rested in the role of ac­coun­ting for the in­vest­ment and risk ta­king be­ha­vi­or of banks. Fur­ther­mo­re, he in­ves­ti­ga­tes the eco­no­mic de­ter­mi­nants of in­crea­sed trans­pa­ren­cy in the fi­nan­cial re­por­ting of cen­tral banks.
