Prof. Zoltan Novotny-Farkas

Prof. Zoltán Novotny-Farkas is a Full Professor of International Accounting at the Department of Finance, Accounting, and Statistics at WU Vienna. He earned his doctoral degree from Goethe University Frankfurt in 2011 and previously held (senior) lecturer positions in accounting and finance at Lancaster University (UK). He was also a visiting scholar at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

His research explores the economic consequences of accounting and disclosure regulation, with a particular focus on financial institutions. He investigates how market forces and regulatory changes shape financial reporting, economic decision-making, and capital market outcomes. Additionally, he explores the economic drivers behind increased transparency in central bank financial reporting. His work has been published in leading accounting journals, including the Journal of Accounting and Economics, The Accounting Review, Review of Accounting Studies, European Accounting Review, and Journal of Business Finance & Accounting.
