We would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the General Assembly of the Academic Staff Council (wissBR). 

It will take place on Monday, October 16th, 2023 (Club Lounge, LC).

All scientific staff members are cordially invited.

The following topics are on the agenda:

1) Opening and welcome, checking quorum and responsibility for taking the minutes

2) Info and discussion on scientific career paths:

• Overview of the legal framework

• Overview of the specific models at WU

• Discussion of the need for career paths without dead ends for different career levels and staff categories (e.g., Prae Doc, Post Doc, Associate Professors, Senior Scientists, Senior Lecturer).

3) Report of the chairperson on ongoing activities of the Academic Staff Council and current issues at WU

4) Audit of the Staff Council accounts for the year 2022

5) Miscellaneous

The General Assembly will begin on 16.10.2023 at 9:30 a.m. in the Club Lounge (LC.2.400, campus.wu.ac.at) with a buffet. At 10:00 a.m. there will be an information and discussion session on "Career paths and career dead ends at WU". We will give a brief overview of the legal framework for academic staff contracts and present the career models specifically offered at WU, as well as their main advantages and disadvantages. We will then discuss possible improvements to the academic career paths at WU, based on the ongoing discussion on career models (see www.nuwiss.at/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/NUWiss-Vorschlaege-zur-Universities Act-Reform.pdf - only available in German) and a study commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research on "New Paths to Professorship in Austria" (https://pubshop.bmbwf.gv.at/index.php?rex_media_type=pubshop_download&rex_media_file=professur_evaluation.pdf - only available in German). Afterwards, we will provide an overview of the ongoing work of the Staff Council and present the audit for 2022.

For your information: According to the Labor Constitution Act (Arbeitsverfassungsgesetz), all academic staff members have the right to attend a General Assembly during working hours, unless there are serious official reasons for not doing so.
