ÖKOEVENT CERTIFICATION

The ÖkoEvent label indicates that your event is environmentally friendly. Certification is easy to obtain, and the steps you need to take are described below.

ÖkoEvent is a brand created by the City of Vienna for particularly environmentally friendly events, regardless of size or occasion. An initial consultation with the ÖkoEvent information staff, the certification process, and rental of ÖkoEvent advertising materials is funded by the City of Vienna and is free of charge for you as the organizer. The application procedure for ÖkoEvent certification is intentionally kept simple.

Obtaining ÖkoEvent certification:

1. Checklist:

Your ÖkoEvent application is based on the ÖkoEvent checklist. All criteria are clearly listed here. Using the checklist, you decide, either on your own or with the support of the ÖkoEvent consultants, which criteria are relevant for your event and how you can fulfill them. For an ÖkoEvent, all minimum criteria relevant to your event and 50% of the optional criteria must be fulfilled. If your event meets applicable optional criteria in addition to all minimum criteria, you will receive the rating ÖkoEvent PLUS.

2. ÖkoEvent consulting:
If needed, individual consulting is available free of charge to help you plan your event. The ÖkoEvent information staff can provide information and additional contacts you may need when planning and holding your event: beratung@oekoevent.at or by phone at +43 1 803 32 32 13.

3. Registration:
You will need to register before you can fill out the checklist. The data you provide will be handled confidentially and will not be passed on to third parties. Registration is necessary to allow registered events to be saved so you can refer back to them later.
 

4. Complete checklist and request certification
You will need to log in to fill out the online checklist. Once you have logged in, you can create a new event and provide general information about the event. Once this data has been saved, you can continue on to the criteria. You can save your progress at any time and continue later. Once you have entered all the criteria, you can apply for certification.
 

5. Response from ÖkoEvent team to your completed checklist
The ÖkoEvent team will review your list and provide feedback. If the requirements for an ÖkoEvent are met, your event will be approved. You can advertise your event as ÖkoEvent-certified and download the logo to use on your promotional materials.
