With the relocation of the Business Run from the Prater to the Danube Island, the number of WU employees taking part has dropped noticeably. WU’s Staff Councils has taken this fact as an opportunity to rethink the support of running events. After consultation with the Rector's Council, feedback from participants of the Business Run and a comparison of alternative running events, a joint decision was made to support a different running event in 2024.

This year, the two Staff Council committees will therefore cover the entry fees for the “Firmenstaffellauf” instead of the Business Run. This running event will take place on June 25^th, 2024 on the grounds of the Krieau horse racing track (which is right next to WU’s campus) and will be held as a relay race consisting of teams of three. Together, they will run a total distance of 10 km, with a relay handover after every 1 km. WU will also have its own company classification. The financing of uniform running shirts for new runners will continue as before.

Registration will continue to be organized by the Staff Councils. Further details regarding registration will follow at the beginning of the summer term. We hope that this change will attract more running enthusiasts at WU.
