Practical School Studies

At the end of the degree program, the curriculum provides for the completion of Practical School Studies at a secondary vocational high school or college. This is intended to supplement the theoretical pedagogical and didactic training with practical experience.

The Supervised Teaching Practicum includes Practical School Studies with 20 ECTS and the Accompanying Course to the Practical School Studies (PI, 4 ECTS, 2 semester hours).

Partner Schools for the Supervised Teaching Practicum

Students can complete their practical school phase in more than 30 partner schools - spread across Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland - both in Federal Commercial Academies (and Schools) and in higher-level vocational schools (HLW, HLT etc.). Only under special circumstances, a cooperation with schools in other provinces of Austria is also possible.

It is not possible to provide a complete list valid for every semester, as not every school supervises students every semester and supply tends to be based on demand. In general, it is safe to say that almost all HAK/HAS and numerous HLW/HLTs in Vienna supervise students during their Supervised Teaching Practicum but are not always available. There are also numerous HAK/HAS partner schools in neighboring southern and western Lower Austria. Sometimes schools in the north and east are also available for supervision. If students are considering a placement in Burgenland, Neusiedl am See and Eisenstadt are very often available, as well as schools in the south.
