Undergraduate Studies

The Institute for Business Education coordinates the Accounting & Management Control I course in the Bachelor's degree programs in Business, Economics and Social Sciences and Business Law. This is a compulsory course in which the basics of accounting and cost accounting have been taught to (until very recently) around 6,000 first-year students each year. In addition, a course in Social Skills is offered, which must also be completed by all Bachelor's students.

With the Business, Economics and Social Sciences 2023 curriculum, the course Jahresabschluss und Unternehmensberichte (loosely translated as Annual Financial Statements and Company Reports), which is organized under the didactic leadership of the Institute for Business Education, is new to the program. According to the new curriculum, the Social Skills courses are called Social Skills in Management and are run as VUE (loosely translated as lecture-exercise blended learning).

For the degree programm business administration, a spezielle Betriebswirtschaftslehre (SBWL, loosely translated as specialization or major) is offered. In this (compulsory) elective Business Training and Education Management, the basics of company training and further education are taught. If the Bachelor's degree program in Business Administration is completed with this SBWL and combined with selected courses from the Social Skills, as well as a relevant Bachelor's thesis, an additional qualification in the form of a Business Trainer Certificate can be obtained!

The curriculum for the Bachelor's degree program in Business, Economics and Social Sciences 2019 requires the completion of the course Grundlagen wissenschaftlichen Arbeitens (PI, 3 ECTS).
