AUSGESCHRIEBENE STELLEN:
1) The Institute for Ecological Economics is currently inviting applications for a fulltime Project Staff Member position (employee subject to the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Staff - Angestellte/r gemäß Kollektivvertrag für die Arbeitnehmer/innen der Universitäten; gross monthly salary, paid 14 times per year: Euro 3,626.60). This employee position will be limited to a period of one year (additional funding opportunities might arise in the near future so to extend the contract to a longer period), starting on October 1st, 2017 (commencement date subject to change, we are flexible and will consider different starting dates should the successful candidate require it).
The Institute for Ecological Economics - with its 35 staff members - is a leading Institution for ecological economic research, teaching, learning, knowledge exchange, and community engagement. Research is grouped into five research areas: Climate Economics and Finance, Macroeconomics & Environment, Sustainable Work, Sustainable Resource Use, and Education for Sustainable Development. The successful candidate will contribute to the research conducted by the Climate Economics and Finance research group, coordinated by Dr. Emanuele Campiglio.
Responsibilities:
The post holder will contribute to an ongoing international programme called “Mistra Financial Systems” (MFS), funded by the Swedish Foundation for Strategie Environmental Research (Mistra). The aim of MFS - now in its second of four years - is to explore the links between the financial system and environmental sustainability. The Institute of Ecological Economics is leading one of the five MFS work packages, “Green Macro”. The objective of the Green Macro project is to develop economic modelling and analysis studying the dynamics links between macroeconomic, financial and environmental systems, with particular reference to the transition to a low-carbon economic system. The project will develop an empirical macroeconomic model calibrated to the Swedish economy, as well as a series of smaller models investigating specific research questions connected to stranded assets (physical and financial) climate mitigation policies (fiscal, macroprudential, monetary) and secular stagnation.The post holder will also be invited to contribute to the writing of grant proposals that, when successfull, might provide funding to extend the post-doc position to a period longer than one year. This position does not involve any teaching.
Your Profile:
Applicants should have:
- A doctoral degree or PhD in Economics, Finance, Environmental/Ecological Economics, Physics, Statistics, or related subjects (or be close to completion)
- A strong research focus, the capability of publishing in top-tier journals in economics and other social sciences
- Strong analytical and modelling skills, knowledge of quantitative methods
- An understanding of the linkages connecting macroeconomic dynamics, finance and environmental sustainability, and an interest it in exploring them further through the development of high-quality academic and policy research
- A good knowledge of climate finance issues (e.g. stranded assets), and possibly previous published research on the topic
- An interest in policy analysis, design and implementation, especially in the environmental and finance field
- Capability of disseminating the research findings to a broader audience (policy makers, media)
- Excellent written and communication skills in English (knowledge of German welcome but not required)
- The ability to work independently, as well as part of a team effort; and to respect tight deadlines
- International and cross-cultural experience and understanding
Given the nature of the project, knowledge and experience in the following fields will be considered as strong assets:
- Stock-flow consistent (SFC) modelling techniques
- Econometric methods, with particular reference to time series analysis
- Knowledge of R and linked programmes (Shiny, Markdown); system dynamics software (e.g. Vensim); and/or GAMS
- Input-output modelling (monetary and/or physical)
- Environmental accounting
- Swedish economic/financial/environmental context

Please note that under the terms of the WU personnel development plan, the position of Teaching and Research Associate is limited to an employment period of not more than six years. Persons who have already been employed at WU in a Teaching and Research Associate position can only be re-employed in an Assistant Professor, tenure track position.

Responsibilities:
The Chair of Organization Design has a research and teaching focus on strategic management (particularly strategic leadership and corporate governance), organizational change, and organization design. In our empirical research, we cooperate with a well-established network of international scholars. We are particularly looking for self-motivated, highly active and productive researchers, who will be expected to make a significant contribution to our research areas or a related field.
Your tasks will include contributions to research, teaching, and administration at the chair, including co-supervision of Bachelor theses (pre-doc) and supervision of Bachelor and Master theses (post-doc).
Applications for an appointment as a Teaching and Research Associate imply that the successful candidate will enroll in WU's PhD program. Even though a substantial part of the candidate's research activities will be dedicated to his/her PhD project, the candidate will also be involved in other research projects. The outcomes of such projects will be published in international research journals and presented at international academic conferences. Attending advanced graduate courses is part of the training.
Postdoctoral researchers can pursue their own research agenda but are also expected to participate in joint research projects with other members of the chair.
Your Profile:
We wish to attract candidates with a solid academic qualification in Business Administration (preferably) or a related field (post-doc: PhD or equivalent, pre-doc: master's degree or equivalent). The successful candidate must demonstrate the motivation and capacity to excel in both research and teaching.
We are particularly interested in candidates whose background and qualifications are in one or more of the following areas:
- strategic management, particularly strategic leadership and / or corporate governance
- strategic adaptation / organizational change
- organization design
- quantitative empirical research and statistical and econometric analysis (e.g., Stata, R)
Very good communication skills, very good command of MS Office, and very good written and oral command of the English language are required (for international candidates, German language skills are a plus). Beyond any formal requirements, we are looking for enthusiastic, curious team players who are passionate about research and teaching and willing to take on responsibility.
