Impressions of former participants

Participant, Porto Sustainable Business Summer School 2024
One of the most impactful concepts that stayed with me from the program is that of double materiality. This idea emphasizes that a company or individual does not have to choose between sustainability and profit; it is possible to achieve both. The fascination with this concept has not only influenced my academic career but has also transformed my personal investment strategy. The program highlighted the importance of critically evaluating "green" investment options, a perspective that has made me more scrutinizing and discerning when considering sustainable investments.

Participant, Porto Sustainable Business Summer School 2024
During group activities and informal events, I had numerous occasions to interact and connect with students from the CPBS and WU. I also developed friendships with some of the Portuguese students. Building these connections allowed me to experience Portuguese life and culture fully. Moreover, the well-organized social events, non-academic activities, and breaks during the courses gave me space to relax and socialize with both my Portuguese and Austrian col-leagues. Additionally, I especially valued spending time with my Austrian housemates, with whom I developed strong bonds over a short time.

Throughout the program, I gained valuable insights into how sustainability affects every layer of a business and the economic world. It became evident that sustainability is not just a buzzword; it is a crucial aspect that demands our attention and action."

"I can truly say that participating in the Porto Sustainable Business Summer School was one of the best decisions during my studies at WU so far, as I was not only able to acquire further knowledge on an interesting topic, but also gain international experience in an exciting country in a beautiful city, while meeting amazing new people and having a lot of fun."
