FT Ranking

WU in the top 25 in the FT Global Masters in Management Ranking

The well-known business newspaper Financial Times (FT) publishes an annual ranking of the best management programs worldwide. In this year's ranking, WU's International Business Administration (IBW) program placed 22nd out of the 70 best programs from around the globe.

This ranking result places WU in the same league as renowned institutions like the Mann-heim Business School, the London School of Economics and Political Science, the Stockholm School of Economics, or the Università Bocconi. The European CEMS program (The Global Alliance in Management Education), available in Austria exclusively at WU, came in at 3rd place on this year's list, making it one of the most elite Masters in Management programs in the world. First place went to Switzerland's University of St. Gallen again, followed by the ESCP Europe.

Positive results in spite of challenging conditions

"Our goal is to put our graduates on the path to a successful career, and we are proud that our International Business Administration program was ranked once again among the best and most attractive management education programs in this year's Financial Times ranking," says Rector Christoph Badelt. He continues, "Actually, these results are quite sensational, considering the fact that in this ranking, WU is competing with universities with regulated access policies and much better teacher-student ratios. It is a remarkable achievement that we are able to earn international recognition and offer a competitive level of education here in Austria, in spite of the difficulties we face."

IBW program: High achievement level, foreign languages, international experience

The results of the FT ranking are based on a total of 16 individual criteria. The IBW program scored particularly well in the categories "Aims achieved" and "Languages." The level of internationalization is another point in the program's favor: In the category "International course experience" (exchange programs, international internships, research placements abroad), WU placed 8th of all the 70 programs included in the ranking. IBW graduates are also very successful on the labor market; the higher salaries they earn contributed to the ranking score. Vice-Rector for Research, International Affairs and External Relations Barbara Sporn is pleased with the results of the ranking, and says, "The constant improvements we make to our programs means that our graduates are very well qualified and have the best chances on the job market, both in Austria and internationally."
