University Board

The University Board acts as WU’s supervisory body. Its responsibilities are defined in § 21 of the Universities Act 2002, including the following (this is an exemplary list, and the various responsibilities are not ranked by importance):

  • Approving the Organizational Structure Plan and the Strategic Plan

  • Approving the budget proposed by the Rector’s Council and the draft Performance Agreement with the government.

  • Appointing the Rector and the Vice-Rectors

  • Concluding employment contracts and target agreements with the members of the Rector’s Council

  • Approving the establishment of new legal entities and foundations

  • Issuing comments on curricula and academic programs that are not covered by the Performance Agreement with the government
