New admission procedures for the Bachelor Program Business, Economics and Social Sciences

The Austrian Parliament has passed an amendment to the Universities Act (UG) on the financing of university places, meaning that new admission procedures will apply for a further five fields of study, including WU’s Bachelor Program Business, Economics and Social Sciences. According to this amendment, WU will have 3,674 places in this program in the 2013/14 academic year, assigned using a two-phase admission procedure. If there are more applicants than the number of places allocated, an entrance exam will be held on July 9, 2013.

In the first step of the two-phase procedure, potential students are required to register online. The registration period for WU’s Business, Economics and Social Sciences bachelor program is from April 15 to May 31, 2013. Applicants are required to submit a letter of motivation during registration. Applicants will be informed by June 3 whether or not an entrance exam will be held. If there are more applicants than the number of places allocated, an entrance exam will be held on July 9, together with the University of Vienna. It is expected that the entrance exams for all business and economics programs in Austria will be held on that day.

Entrance exam just once a year

The entrance exam for Business, Economics and Social Sciences will be held only once a year. This means that anyone interested in starting the program in the 2013/14 winter semester or the 2014 summer semester will have to register online between April 15 and May 31. No registrations will be accepted after this period, nor will it be possible to take the entrance exam at a later date.

Registration without university entrance qualifications

All applicants for a place in the program must register online during the registration period, i.e. even high school students still in their last year of school. Applicants expecting to complete their military service or civil service must also register online now if they want to begin the Business, Economics and Social Sciences program in the 2014 summer semester. Further information about the contents of the exam will be provided on the WU website, and further details about the exam (time, location, etc.) will also be announced ahead of time.
