Directory of Open Access Journals – DOAJ

The DOAJ is an online directory of about 18.000 peer-reviewed, quality controlled Open Access journals in all scientific fields. It is a very useful tool in the search for suitable Open Access journals. Some of the indexed journals are included as full-text versions in the directory and individual articles can be searched in. A number of filters are available to refine comprehensive search results (subject, language, publisher, etc.).

SHERPA/RoMEO

SHERPA/RoMEO is a database providing a comprehensive overview of publishers’ policies on self-archiving manuscripts (Green road). The database is searchable by publisher or journal title (name or ISSN) and links directly to each publisher’s respective policy.

Creative Commons licenses

Creative Commons (CC) is a non-profit organization that provides standardized copyright licenses as a way to help authors give the public permission to share and use their work. CC offers six different licensing types defining the legal conditions under which authors can retain copyright while allowing others to copy, distribute, and use their work. These licenses can be used for publications that are deposited in a repository or published in an Open Access journal. Sometimes, however, publishers or funding bodies will require a specific type of license. Once a license has been chosen and assigned, it can no longer be changed or rescinded.

ORCID

ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) provides a persistent identifier that distinguishes researchers and their contributions from every other researcher. Through integration in numerous applications and interfaces ORCID supports researchers in keeping their publication lists updated on the spot, which is especially useful when names or affiliations might change in the course of time. ORCID is operated by a not-for-profit organization. Creating and using an ORCID is free of charge.
