Residence registration

Residents in Austria are required to register their place of residence with the authorities within three days before or after moving to a new address. For long-term residents, a number of important services like postal services, voting rights, and parking stickers (Parkpickerl) are dependent on residence registration as proof of address.

Hotels or other providers of lodging are responsible for registering their guests.
