Die ERSTE Stiftung und das Institut für die Wissenschaften vom Menschen (IWM) laden Sie herzlich zur Teilnahme am Time to Decide Europe Summit 2023 am 16. Mai am Erste Campus in Wien oder per Livestream ein.

Diese eintägige Konferenz fand im vergangenen Jahr nach dem Schock über Russlands Einmarsch in die Ukraine erstmals statt. Der Time to Decide Europe Summit trug maßgeblich zu den Überlegungen und Maßnahmen bei, die zur Bewältigung der Krise in politischer, wirtschaftlicher und sozialer Hinsicht diskutiert und auf den Weg gebracht wurden.

Wir würden uns freuen, Sie bei der Fortsetzung unserer Gespräche und Debatten mit prominenten Denker*innen und renommierten Politik- und Wirtschaftswissenschaftler*innen dieses Jahr begrüßen zu dürfen. Gemeinsam werden sie versuchen, Antworten auf die dringenden Fragen, mit denen wir gegenwärtig konfrontiert sind, zu finden und Ausblicke zur Zukunft Europas zu skizzieren.

In unseren drei thematischen Diskussionsrunden geht es um „Die unerträgliche Leichtigkeit der Macht: Europa, Geopolitik und der Krieg in der Ukraine“, „Herausforderungen für die europäische Demokratie: Angst, Schrecken und Hoffnung“ und „Treibstoff für die Zukunft: Wirtschaft, Energie und Umwelt“.

Feel welcome and join us for our fifth NGO Academy Keynote, this time with Alnoor Ebrahim on “The dark side of accountability. When impact measurement does more harm than good, and what to do about it”, taking place online on Tue, 23 May 2023, 18:00 - 19:30 CET.

In this keynote, Alnoor Ebrahim, Professor at The Fletcher School at Tufts University and award-winning book author, will shed light on metrics of social impact and the conditions under which they can both help or harm organizations in delivering on their missions. He will provide a framework for measuring social change that goes beyond the current obsession with outcomes, and towards more strategic forms of measurement and accountability.

ERNOP Safe Spaces will be taking place the day before the ERNOP research conference in Zagreb and aim at creating spaces for exchange between academics and philanthropy practitioners.

Parallel sessions will enhance discussions on impact, diversity and inclusion, engaging with stakeholders and empowering communities, advocacy by and for philanthropy as well as philanthropic and voluntary leadership.

Reinhard Millner, (Social Entrepreneurship Center, WU Wien) will be hosting the safe space session on Impact – (im)possibilities, managing internal and external expectations together with Kate Sullivan (The Human Safety Net, Generali Foundation):

Impact has been on the agenda for years but still feeds debates among academics and puzzles many working in philanthropy. Discussions about (lack of) measurement tools and implications for (strategic) decision-making and from theories of change to unintended effects and attribution of implemented projects often lead to frustration and frozen organisations. What matters in terms of impact measurement? Can we move beyond the “definition”, engage in trust-based approaches, and connect evidence to strategy?

“Safe Spaces for Philanthropy” are organised by ERNOP, the European Research Network On Philanthropy in collaboration with Philea - Philanthropy Europe Association on June 28th and prior to the ERNOP Research Conference on June 29-30 in Zagreb.

Participation is free, but registration is required, and capacity is limited. Registration is open until 21 May.
