Project Rooms

1. Project rooms may be used only for study-related purposes or purposes related to teaching or research. Please note that any form of commercial use (e.g. paid tutoring) is forbidden.

2. Project rooms are intended mainly for student use, i.e. for group projects or studying together, and for small-scale classes.    

3. Project rooms may be occupied by users only after they have been successfully reserved using the online booking system Rooms. Even if a room is listed as unoccupied, it may not be used without a prior reservation.

4. Project rooms may only be booked for groups of two or more. Workplaces for individual work are available in the self-study areas.

5. Room occupancy may not exceed the maximum number of occupants given for each room.

6. Rooms may be booked up to 14 days in advance. Room reservations are made by one student from the group. Rooms may be booked for a maximum of two hours. Students may have up to three open reservations at one time.

7. Bookings are automatically deleted after expiration of the reserved time period (or if the booking has been cancelled using the online system Rooms).

8.   Bookings can be cancelled right up until the time of the reservation.

9. Bookings and booking credits are non-transferable. The user in whose name the room was reserved must be present during the reserved time; otherwise the reservation must be cancelled.

10. Booked project rooms cannot be locked individually. The user in whose name the room was reserved is liable for any damages, loss, or theft of room equipment during the reserved time.

11. Reservations (with the user’s student ID number) are displayed on door displays located outside each project room. Bookings remain active even if the user is late. Rooms must not be booked “just in case.”

12. WU reserves the right to monitor project room use; if no one shows up to use a reserved room, the user can have his or her booking privileges restricted or suspended (no-show regulations).

13. Food and drinks are allowed in project rooms located outside the WU University Library, but users are responsible for the proper disposal of any resulting trash (packaging materials or leftover food). The WU Library Regulations apply to all project rooms located inside the library. Food and drinks are not allowed in the tandem rooms located in the Language Resource Center.

14. After expiration of the reserved time, users are required to leave the project room without having to be asked. Rooms are to be left in an orderly condition (garbage disposed of, whiteboards wiped clean) and locked after use. If a room is found to be in unsatisfactory condition after use, the user’s booking privileges can be suspended.

 

Collaborative Project Rooms

These rooms are collaborative project rooms: 1.002, D2.0.316, D3.0.235, D4.0.049, LC.2.016, LC.2.020, LC.2.024, LC.2.026, LC.3.004, LC.3.016, LC.3.020, LC.3.026, LC.4.004, LC.5.008, LC.6.004, LC.6.006, and LC.6.164.

How are these collaborative project rooms equiped:

• Every collaborative project room is equiped with 1 interactive flat screen, 2 HDMI ports und 1 USB-C port.

• Please find further information about the possibilities of use in the tutorial.

• Please bring your own computer.

• In case of technical issues, please contact WU's IT Support Center.

• Please note that no data will be saved on the equipment in the room. If you plan to continue to work with the documents, please safe them on your own drive.

• Should you discover damage on the technical equipment, please report to WU's IT Support Center.

13. Food is not allowed in collaborative project rooms, but users may bring drinks resealable containers.

14. After expiration of the reserved time, users are required to leave the project room without having to be asked. Rooms are to be left in an orderly condition (garbage disposed of, whiteboards wiped clean) and locked after use. If a room is found to be in unsatisfactory condition after use, the user’s booking privileges can be suspended.

15. WU does not assume any liability for the functioning of the IT equipment and infrastructure. WU also excludes any liability for hardware or software malfunctions and loss of or damage to any data or storage media that library users may bring to the University Library.

 

Carrels

1. Carrels may be used only by master’s and doctoral/PhD-level students for work on a thesis (e.g. research, writing, etc.). Any form of commercial use (e.g. paid tutoring) without prior approval is forbidden.

2. Carrels may be occupied by users only after they have been successfully reserved using the online booking system Rooms. Students are informed via email to their WU email account whether the reservation has been successful. In case of a successful reservation, they are also informed about the number of the room allocated to them.

3. Carrels may be booked one month in advance, until the 10th of the preceding month.

4. The booking period is one month. Extending this period is not possible. Each student may only have one carrel reservation at a time.

5. The period for picking up the carrel access card starts on the first day the Central Library opens in the respective month. The access card can be picked up at the library front desk (LC, level 1) during service hours. Click here for more information on library opening hours.

6. The access card has to be returned on the last day the Central Library opens in the respective month. The card has to be returned at the library front desk (LC, level 1) during service hours.

7. Bookings are non-transferable.

8. The user in whose name the carrel was reserved is liable for any damages to room equipment and loss or theft of items during the reserved time

10. Food and beverages in open containers are not allowed in carrels (see WU Library Regulations).

11. After expiration of the reserved time, users are required to leave the carrel in an orderly condition (garbage disposed of, etc.) and locked after use. If a room is found to be in unsatisfactory condition after use, the user’s booking privileges can be suspended.

 

Tandem learning rooms

1. Tandem learning rooms are intended primarily for language learning activities. Students using the rooms for other purposes can be asked to leave by the staff to make room for language-learning students.

2. Tandem learning rooms are ideal for tandem learning activities with a partner, individual pronunciation exercises, and for making audio or video recordings for presentation simulations and role play. All tandem rooms are equipped with a computer with the necessary software pre-installed. Webcams are available upon request at the Language Resource Center helpdesk. You will need to provide a photo ID.

3. Please do not reserve rooms for more than four hours per day, to give other students the opportunity to use the facilities as well.

4. The tandem rooms in the Language Resource Center are for study purposes only. Any form of commercial use (e.g. paid tutoring) is strictly forbidden without prior approval.

5. Tandem rooms reserved using the online booking tool “Rooms” can be occupied during the time slot specified in the reservation. If a room is not reserved, it can be used by anyone for language-learning activities (i.e. without a prior reservation).

6. Rooms can only be reserved up to 14 days in advance.

7. Reservations are deleted automatically after expiration of the reserved time slot (or after cancellation using the online booking tool “Rooms”).

8. Room reservations can be cancelled right up until the start of the booked time slot. 

9. Tandem rooms cannot be individually locked, even if reserved (i.e. they stand open all day). The user in whose name the room was reserved is liable for any damages, loss, or theft of room equipment during the reserved time slot. 

10. Reservations with the student ID number of the person in whose name the reservation was made are displayed on a monitor in the lounge area of the Language Resource Center. Reservations are held open if the occupant is late.

11. Tandem rooms may not be reserved “just in case.” Use of the rooms is monitored on a regular basis, and if it becomes apparent that rooms are being booked but not used, the student’s booking privileges can be restricted or suspended.

12. The Terms and Conditions for the use of project rooms also apply to tandem rooms. These Terms and Conditions are available online on the WU website. Unlike under the Terms and Conditions for project rooms, however, it is forbidden to bring food into the tandem learning rooms.

13. After expiration of the reserved time, users are required to leave the tandem room unprompted. Rooms are to be left in an orderly condition (garbage disposed of, whiteboards wiped clean) after use. If a room is found to be in unsatisfactory condition after use, the user’s booking privileges can be suspended.
