The Conference “The interplay between tax and financial regulations in a new digital environment” represents a significant step in the work conducted by the Global Tax Policy Center and Bank of Italy to address the complex challenges created by crypto assets. Hosted by the Bank of Italy in Rome, on April 7-8, 2025, this event will bring together high-level representatives from governments, international organizations, businesses, and academia to address the challenges and opportunities challenges and opportunities faced by policymakers, regulators, tax authorities, and the private sector deriving from the use of crypto assets, decentralized finance, and digital payment systems.

The conference will provide a platform for participants to examine key topics such as the regulatory landscape of the digital economy, the taxation of crypto assets, and the integration of anti-money laundering and tax compliance measures within this new environment. Additionally, the conference will focus on the transformational potential of Central Bank Digital Currencies and the role of tokenization, and Distributed Ledger Technology in reshaping both markets and tax systems.

By fostering collaboration between international institutions, tax authorities, the private sector and financial experts, the event aims to offer participants a deeper understanding of how to balance innovation with effective regulation.
