The 5th Sustainability Day at WU took place on 15th of May and was devoted to the “Future of the consumerism society”. Stefan Giljum was invited to give a keynote at the evening event.

In his presentation he reflected on consumption trends in the era of globalization, illustrating trends in natural resource use in various regions of the world and analyzing recent trends in consumption-based indicators for Austria. The final part contained a discussion on the options by different actors to move consumption towards a more environmentally sustainable direction.
