Die WU honoriert mit den WU-Awards in der Kategorie Prämierung von Forschungsleistungen herausragende Publikationen von Forschungsergebnissen in Top-Journals mit sogenannten Leistungsprämien. Unterschieden wird hierbei zwischen Publikationen in sogenannten „Star-Journals“ und „A-Publikationen" in den weiteren Fachmagazinen, die in den verschiedenen WU-Journal-Ratings gelistet sind. Darüber hinaus wird in dieser Kategorie auch die herausragende Leistung in der Einwerbung von Drittmitteln ausgezeichnet.

Die Verleihung der WU-Awards findet einmal jährlich während des WU-Sommerfestes statt, dieses Jahr am 22. Juni 2017.
