Dr. Chrisitan Schumacher

Christian Schumacher is an Assistant Professor at the Vienna University of Economics and Business.

He holds an MSc in Economics and a BSc in Philosophy. He earned his PhD at the University of Vienna with a dissertation on behavioral strategy and previously held a tenure-track Assistant Professor position at the Copenhagen Business School's Strategy and Innovation Department.

Christian is the recipient of notable fellowships, including the Marie-Curie Fellowship from the European Commission (2023–2024) and the Joseph A. Schumpeter Fellowship at Harvard University (2019–2020). He has also engaged in international academic exchanges, including a visiting PhD position at INSEAD in Singapore and research stays at Keio University in Tokyo, among others. Additionally, he gained international work experience in Nairobi and Berlin.

His research examines behavioral strategy and managerial decision-making through quantitative approaches, with publications in top-tier journals such as the Strategic Management Journal, Strategy Science, and the European Journal of Operational Research. Christian is an active participant in leading academic conferences, including the Academy of Management, the Strategic Management Society, and EURAM.
