Projects, ideas and startups for a sustainable future! WU students at this year's Sustainability Challenge

In this transdisciplinary, two-semester program, students from seven Austrian universities worked to find sustainable solutions to current problems. WU students were involved in a total of seven service-learning projects and start-ups.

In the Sustainability Challenge, partners from companies, ministries, or NGOs work together with interdisciplinary student teams to tackle current sustainability-related challenges from the day-to-day realities of business and society. The Challenge is organized annually by RCE Vienna, with the participation of several universities (WU Vienna, BOKU, TU Vienna, University of Vienna, the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Mozarteum University Salzburg, and the University of Graz) and a large number of academics and practitioners. The RCE is part of WU’s Competence Center for Sustainability Transformation and Responsibility (STaR).

This year, WU students worked on topics ranging from sustainable consumption and food culture to AI-based recycling solutions, renewable energy and gender equality in technology jobs. In addition to innovative business ideas, the Sustainability Challenge is also an ideal opportunity for students to build a professional network and make contacts during their studies. We are proud that so many WU students took part in this year’s Sustainability Challenge.
