Consultation hours, info sessions, workshops in high demand

16/01/2023

WU offers prospective students many opportunities to find out everything about the courses, the content, and the selection procedures.

Why do young people choose a certain degree program? Surveys revealed that WU bachelor's students, when choosing a degree program, tend to take an informed rather than an on-the-spot decision long before graduating from high school. The range of studies, the university’s image and atmosphere, as well as job opportunities are the most important criteria for choosing a program. WU Rector Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger says, “Of course it is important to get informed about the contents of a degree program before studying it. Loving the subject you study will surely help you in successfully completing your studies.”

Increased demand for information offers

In 2022, we could support more than 5,200 students in choosing the right degree program by offering more than 200 appointments, 1,800 of which were held online. "Compared to previous years, WU has seen a strong increase in demand for information sessions. On the one hand, this shows that prospective students take their time to carefully consider their choice of a program. On the other hand, it affirms that degree programs at WU continue to enjoy great popularity. Of course, they are both highly gratifying," says the WU Rector.

More low-threshold online info sessions

WU provides several offers for young people to get informed about what to expect when studying business or business law, what content is taught, and what requirements are needed. This allows them to take an informed decision before choosing a program. In addition to traditional on-campus events such as the WU Bachelor's Day or participation in trade fairs, WU holds info sessions directly in schools as part of WU@School. WU also offers online info sessions. During chat office hours with WU bachelor's students, secondary school students and prospective students can connect live at a time that suits them to ask questions. Furthermore, WU organizes online workshops on topics such as "What is business and what is WU all about?” targeting students of academic secondary schools (AHS, allgemeinbildende höhere Schulen). Additionally, WU gives lectures on how students can successfully prepare for their diploma theses.

Five more online info sessions will be held in January. Find out more about our offers here: https://www.wu.ac.at/studium/angebote-fuer-schulen/. If you have any questions, please contact the Study Information team via email (studieninfo@wu.ac.at).

The registration period for WU’s bachelor’s programs starts on March 1, 2023. From March 2 to 5, 2023, WU will be represented at Austria's largest education fair, BeSt.
