With its English-taught Master’s Program in International Management, WU has catapulted up in the 2016 Masters in Management Ranking, issued by the well-known business newspaper Financial Times. Coming in on place eight, WU achieved its first-ever top ten spot in this ranking. The program is targeted at students from all around the world, offering them not only an internationally renowned education in management, but also opportunities to spend an exchange semester abroad at prestigious partner universities, gain professional experience during an international internship, and establish contacts with leading companies even before graduating from the program.

WU ranked as second best university in the German-speaking area

This outstanding result puts WU in the same league as prestigious institutions like the London Business School, ESADE Business School, and Bocconi University, with the last two institutions now ranking below WU. WU is ranked as the second best university in the entire German-speaking area, after Switzerland’s University of St. Gallen, which holds the top spot in the ranking. “Achieving such an excellent result in this prestigious ranking is a sensational success for WU. I’m proud that with our Master’s in International Management, we can offer our students one of the top management programs in Europe. This success also comes as a positive signal for Austria as whole. We’ve shown that it’s possible to achieve excellent results in international rankings,” says WU Rector Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger.

International experience and excellent career prospects with the Master’s Program in International Management

As in previous years, the 2016 FT ranking is again based on 16 differently weighted criteria in three categories: alumni career progress, diversity (percentages of female and international students and personnel), and international exposure and research. 94% of graduates found employment within three months of graduation. They praised the high extent to which they had achieved their aims. WU also excelled with its broad range of foreign language courses, its international environment, and the numerous opportunities it offers its students to gain international experience – WU is on place one worldwide in the category “international course experience.” This strong international orientation also translates into high levels of career mobility among graduates and better career prospects in larger companies. The FT ranking is based on data from an alumni survey and figures provided by the schools.

The top three remain unchanged from last year and the year before: Switzerland’s University of St. Gallen is on place one, followed by France’s HEC Paris and ESSEC Business School.
