For the past three years, the WU Summer Celebration has been a highlight in the social calendar of all of WU’s friends and supporters. This year, we celebrated both the end of the academic year and 5 years of Campus WU. A very diverse entertainment program awaited the guests: The kids’ program started at 3:00pm, and during the afternoon, Kronehit-DJ Matthias Daniel played contemporary electronic dance tracks to get everyone in the mood for the evening’s festivities. Awards for outstanding performance The Summer Celebration started off with a special program for the WU community: the WU Awards. Like every year, WU held this ceremony to recognize and honor the excellent performance of its researchers and teachers. WU and the City of Vienna also presented the Talenta Awards to the authors of the year’s six best bachelor’s and master’s theses. Top acts After the WU Awards ceremony, WU Rector Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger officially opened the WU Summer Celebration.

As in previous years, popular Austrian musicians performed on stage and fired up the crowds. This year’s celebration was truly star-studded: Austrian Top-40 performers and winners of the Amadeus Music Awards Folkshilfe and Möwe rocked the Red Bull stage, following Simon Lewis and the opening act, The Chaos Circle. Later, night owls moved on to the neighboring nightclub Prater Sauna to party on into the small hours. The WU Summer Celebration’s main sponsors Hofer, KPMG, Red Bull, and Kronehit radio also provided a lot of entertainment for our guests.
