Tatiana Karpukhina received a Talenta Award 2017. This award is given annually to the three best master theses at WU. The title of Ms. Karpukhina's master thesis is “Adoption of entomophagy in the western society” and it examines how people could be persuaded to accept insects as food. Although the advantages of eating insects are significant (e.g., high protein, efficient and sustainable production), most people immediately show disgust and rejection. Ms. Karpukhina investigated in two experimental studies which strategies could be used to reduce disgust and increase people’s willingness to try insects. Ms. Karpukhina's thesis is of high scientific quality, highly relevant for society and will become even more important in the future.
