A total of 90 degree programs were included in the 2020 ranking. WU’s English-taught Master in International Management program offers students from around the world an internationally recognized management degree with the option of spending a semester abroad at a respected international partner university. Students also have the opportunity to gain professional experience by completing an international internship and get a head start by making contact with top companies during their studies.

WU ranked as second-best university in the German-speaking region

This most recent result puts WU in the same league as prestigious institutions like University College Dublin’s Smurfit Graduate Business School (8th place), Bocconi University (9th place), or Britain’s Imperial College Business School (10th place). WU is ranked as the second-best university in the German-speaking region, after the University of St. Gallen, which takes first place in the ranking. “Taking a top spot in this renowned ranking again is a great success for WU. I’m proud that with our International Management program, we can offer our students one of the top management programs in Europe. Academic rankings and our universities’ performance in these rankings often meet with criticism in Austria, but in spite of this, WU manages to represent Austria positively and, at the same time, shows that it is possible to perform well in international rankings,” says Rector Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger.

WU Master’s Program in International Management excels with international experience and career prospects

In the FT ranking, universities are ranked in 17 categories in three areas: alumni career progress, diversity (percentages of female and international students and personnel), and international experience and research. The ranking is based on data provided by the universities and alumni surveys. In detail, the results show that 96% of WU alumni find a job within three months of graduating. WU also excels with the international environment it offers its students and its attractive options for gaining international experience. This aspect leads to higher levels of professional mobility later in graduates’ careers and to better positions at larger companies. WU also achieved very good results in the “value for money” category.

The first two places remained unchanged from the last few years: Switzerland’s University of St. Gallen tops the ranking, followed by HEC Paris. France’s ESSEC Business School also maintained its position from last year, coming in at 3rd place.
