Mental health in focus: Student Wellbeing Days 2025 at WU Vienna

01/04/2025

From April 7 to 9, 2025, WU will hold another edition of its Student Wellbeing Days.

The latest results of the Mental Health Barometer survey by Instahelp and Studo clearly highlight the need for mental health support among students: Almost half of all students experience mental difficulties, with women being affected the most. To respond to this need, WU Vienna University of Economics and Business is actively promoting the well-being of its students. From April 7 to 9, 2025, WU will hold another edition of its Student Wellbeing Days.

For WU Vienna, its responsibility to offer a first-class academic education also includes strengthening the mental wellbeing of its students. As Rector Rupert Sausgruber points out, “Many people only seek out help when they already have clear symptoms. In part, this is due to the stigma that the topic of mental health unfortunately still carries. For this reason, we’re focusing specifically on prevention here at WU. With our various counselling services, we want to create a space where students can get the support they need at an early stage. This way, we want to ensure that the university experience makes our students stronger, both professionally and personally.”

Advisory and support services for students

The WU Student Counselling Team provides a comprehensive range of easily accessible support services to assist students in various life situations and challenging situations. With the Student Wellbeing Days, WU is turning the spotlight squarely on the topic of mental health during two days in April. The Student Wellbeing Days will address issues like exam stress, performance pressure, sleep disorders, and general wellbeing – topics that come up again and again in student counselling sessions. Margarethe Rammerstorfer, Vice-Rector for Academic Programs and Student Affairs, says, “Stress, conflicts, or unforeseen changes can make us feel overwhelmed and lose sight of what really matters. That’s why it’s important to have someone you can turn to for support and for helpful strategies for dealing with these issues. With our two-day program, we want to make it clear that no one is alone with these challenges and that the WU community is on hand to offer valuable resources – not only for completing a degree program at WU but also to succeed in a career later on.”
