New databases: Web of Science

Via the WU network you now have access to the databases Web of Science, Journal Citation Reports (JCR) and Essential Science Indicators (ESI).

Web of Science

Web of Science is an abstract and citation database recognized as one of the largest scientific search platforms with approximately 92 million entries and abstracts. It covers a wide range of scientific disciplines. It analyzes primarily international peer-reviewed journals, as well as book series and conferences proceedings.

The platform provides various tools for monitoring and analyzing the publications contained. You can access the full texts available at WU via the SFX link resolver button.

Journal Citation Reports

Journal Citation Reports (JCR) enables you to evaluate and compare journals based on citation analysis. JCR evaluates nearly 21,850 journals across 254 categories. One well-known indicator, for example, is the Journal Impact Factor (JIF).

Essential Science Indicators

The Essential Science Indicators (ESI) offer tools to measure scientific performance and analyze trends based on data from the SSCI of Web of Science. ESI enable citation analysis across 22 subject areas, as well as for individuals, institutions, countries, and journals.

The database evaluates the 10 most recent volumes of approximately 12,000 scientific journals. Among its features, ESI identifies Highly Cited Papers and Hot Papers.
