WU Research Award

05/12/2012

Our work on the status of Information Systems (IS) as a discipline published in the top-rated European Journal of Information Systems received the WU's Top Paper Award. The current state of research in our research field grounds some perspectives in relation to what IS professionals use in practice in different cultural and geographical contexts. The paper seeks to contribute to ongoing debates by tracing the unfolding of Information Systems as a body of knowledge. We use the ideas of Abbott on disciplines and highlight different stages of a discipline's development: differentiation, conflict and absorption.
