About the Business Case Challenge

The world needs bright minds with visionary ideas who can tackle economic challenges with innovative solutions. This is exactly where the Business Case Challenge (BCC) comes in. Since its founding in 2020 by DDr. Michael Tojner and Univ.-Prof. Dr. Jonas Puck, the BCC has established itself as a springboard for young talent. Organized by the Vienna University of Economics and Business in collaboration with the eXplore! initiative, the challenge offers students from schools and universities a unique opportunity to analyze real-world business problems and develop creative solutions.

From Theory to Practice

The mission of the Business Case Challenge is to make economics tangible. Participants apply their knowledge to real business issues and learn how to develop practical and sustainable business models. The competition combines analytical rigor with creative approaches and challenges participants to think outside the box.

Real Challenges, Real Impact

Every spring, renowned companies provide exciting business cases that address current challenges in various industries—from sustainable strategies to digital innovations. Previous partners of the challenge include companies like Austrian Airlines, OMV, and UNIQA. Participants analyze these challenges, develop strategic solutions, and present their ideas to a distinguished jury.

Coaching and Mentoring

To provide participants with the best possible support, the BCC includes multiple coaching sessions. Experts from the business and academic sectors guide students throughout the process, offering valuable insights on strategic analysis, innovative thinking, and presentation skills.

A Springboard for Talent

At the end of the competition, the best teams are honored at the annual Award Ceremony. In addition to attractive cash and material prizes, winners gain valuable insights into the business world and establish important connections for their future careers. Many former participants have used the challenge as a career springboard and are now in leading positions or have founded their own startups.

A Platform for the Future

The Business Case Challenge is more than just a competition—it is a platform for forward-thinking ideas and innovative solutions. It encourages young people to think entrepreneurially and actively shape the economy. With each passing year, the BCC continues to grow and has become an established institution for aspiring business innovators.
