The Economist ranking: WU places 5th with MSc in International Management

01/07/2019

In 2017, the renowned British weekly The Economist launched its ranking of master’s programs in management, which is issued every two years. WU participated in this ranking for the first time with its Master in International Management/CEMS (MIM) program and made a sensational debut, coming in at 5th place out of 40 programs from around the world. This result makes WU the second-best university from the German-speaking region represented in the ranking.

The Economist Masters in Management ranking lists international master’s programs in management based on program quality and alumni career success. The ranking data is based on two surveys, one completed by the universities themselves and one carried out among current students and alumni of the respective program.

WU excels with high alumni salaries and faculty quality

WU’s outstanding result is primarily due to the indicators for alumni salaries, access to international mobility programs, faculty quality and qualifications, satisfaction with WU’s career services, and career placement success. Students and alumni also rated WU very high for its infrastructure and excellent study atmosphere, as well as the positive educational experience and great opportunities for personal development that WU offers.

WU represents Austria well

WU Rector Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger is very pleased with this outstanding success. “Over the past few months, several of WU’s master’s programs have achieved a series of great results. Our strong position in this highly competitive ranking confirms once more that WU has established its place as a top-quality international university with an excellent program portfolio.” As Rector Hanappi-Egger points out, “These ranking results primarily benefit our students and graduates. It’s not just what you study, but also where you study that is of increasing importance for building a career.”
