The Institute is looking for two dedicated tutors to support the course "Advanced and Applied Sustainable Economics and Business".

Job Description

The Institute for International Political Economy is looking for two dedicated tutors to support the course "Advanced and Applied Sustainable Economics and Business." This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable insights into university teaching, actively shape digital teaching formats, and test innovative didactic approaches. You will work in an interdisciplinary and international team, making an active contribution to the further development of the course. The scope of employment is five (5) hours per week, with a salary of approximately 335 euros per month.

Important Note: Only students without a diploma or master's degree will be considered for the position.

Tasks

  • Participate in the conception, implementation, and grading of online examinations.

  • Organize and implement a revision course for targeted exam preparation.

  • Serve as the first point of contact for student inquiries via email and MS Teams.

  • Manage student information on the BACH platform.

  • Develop and supervise bonus point tasks.

  • Develop and implement digital teaching materials and interactive learning scenarios.

  • Support the creation and implementation of student surveys using tools such as Qualtrics and Mentimeter.

  • Maintain and administer the CANVAS learning platform.

  • Use innovative AI tools to increase student engagement and interactivity.

  • Contribute to the further development of the course, particularly through gamification approaches or pre-/post-surveys.

  • Create informative short videos on course content.

  • Support and maintain social media accounts (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn) to actively involve students in the course.

What You Bring with You

  • Interest in and basic knowledge of international political economy.

  • Experience in grading exams is a plus.

  • Experience in responding professionally to written inquiries.

  • Knowledge of learning platforms such as LEARN and Canvas.

  • Familiarity with survey tools such as Qualtrics or Mentimeter is an advantage.

  • Experience using AI tools to enrich university teaching.

  • Enthusiasm for innovative pedagogical approaches in higher education, especially Active Learning Strategies.

  • Practical experience in maintaining and managing institutional social media accounts.

  • Experience in video and audio editing, especially with tools such as Canva and Audacity.

  • Independence and teamwork skills: You are characterized by initiative and contribute your own ideas. In our open institute structure, we expect proactivity, independence, and a willingness to collaborate.

  • Cultural sensitivity: In our international team (including colleagues from Colombia, Iran, Latvia, Indonesia, the USA, Germany, and Austria), a high degree of cultural sensitivity is essential.

  1. AI Prompt for Script: Develop a prompt for ChatGPT or another AI tool that creates a script for an Instagram reel. The goal of the reel is for a professor to teach students the information from the following newspaper article: The Economist, "Rwanda Does a Putin in Congo" (28 January 2025). Please submit both: a) the AI prompt you used, and b) the script generated from it.

  2. Puzzle (max. 1 page): Describe a jigsaw puzzle that should be addressed in the course "Sustainable Economy - Deepening and Application." A puzzle consists of two similar actors who have made different decisions despite comparable conditions. Please cite your sources.

  3. Concept (max. 1 page): Develop two concrete ideas on how the Institute for International Political Economy could engage in a content-related exchange with students (e.g., at AHS or BHS). The aim is to make the topics of the course "Sustainable Economy - Consolidation and Application" accessible to a younger target group. Please ensure that your proposals are resource-friendly, as only limited financial resources and time are available.

  4. CV: Submit a full CV highlighting your relevant knowledge and experience.

  5. Confirmation of Study: Include a current certificate of enrollment as proof of your student status.
