About me

Ashley Simpson is a Research and Teaching Associate for the Institute for International Political Economy at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in International Political Economy and a graduate certificate in Economic and Demographic Data Analysis, all from the University of Texas at Dallas. In addition, Ashley completed the University of Texas System Graduate Archer Fellowship and the University of Texas at Dallas Connect Program for data analysis and program evaluation.

Ashley's research interests are the political economy of debt and finance, emphasizing financial technologies and gender equality. Before coming to Vienna, Ashley interned with the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's Office of Innovation and the International Republican Institute's Women's Democracy Network and completed a program evaluation project for the non-profit Kimiya International. Ashley also worked as a research assistant on topics including human rights, the politics of finance, and effective teaching.
