open positions: 2 full professorships of Business Administration and Informaton Systems

We are looking for applicants with an emphasis on either * contemporary information systems or * operations management and digital transformation.

WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) is currently inviting applications for the position of two full professors1 of Business Administration and Information Systems (Betriebswirtschaftslehre und Wirtschaftsinformatik) at the Department of Information Systems and Operations Management. Candidates are expected to have established an international reputation as a researcher in their field. We envision the two new positions to strengthen the department and WU in our goal towards a responsible digital transformation, and attract excellent candidates who contribute to our joint vision on information systems and operations management, with two focus directions outlined in the detailed announcements (linked):

1) Foundations of contemporary information systems (2025-04), where we look for candidates who complement and strengthen the existing research at our department in areas such as:

  • AI Systems and Architectures

  • Data Mining and Machine Learning

  • Distributed Systems and Decentralization

  • Distributed Ledgers

  • Cloud and Virtualisation

  • IoT and Edge Computing

  • Data Governance for AI

2) Operations Management with a focus on digital transformation (2025-05), where the candidate’s expertise falls within one of the following research areas:

  • behavioural operations

  • AI application to process improvements

  • integrated supply and demand management

  • production planning and control

  • supply chain planning and control

  • circular supply chains and sustainable supply chain management

  • tokenization in supply chains and new product development
