Prof. Dr. Christina Schamp is a Full Professor at the Marketing Department. She has a background in Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen and Social Psychology from the London School of Economics (LSE) and earned her PhD from the University of Hamburg. Prior to joining WU Vienna, she was an Assistant Professor in Empirical Research Methods at the University of Mannheim. Her research lies at the intersection of morality, consumer decision-making, and technology, with her work published in leading journals such as the Journal of Marketing Research, the International Journal of Research in Marketing, and the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science.

In her work, she uses a variety of different methods from behavioral experiments, to panel data models, and text and image analysis with machine learning techniques. Making the latest developments in the field of text and image mining usable for applied research is one impetus of her research. Exemplary for this topic, she and her co-authors won the Best Paper Award 2023 for the most influential paper in the International Journal of Research in Marketing. This paper synthesizes the use of sentiment methods for applied research and introduces SieBERT as an easy to implement sentiment model. Another current research project is dedicated to the effects of AI on society.  She is part of the WWTF-funded Doctoral College on Digital Humanism and investigates how to increase AI literacy in the population, by evaluating differences in AI use between stakeholders and building inclusive AI interfaces.

She is a member of the Competence Center for Experimental Research and founding member of the newly established Applied AI Network at the WU Vienna. Further, she actively contributes to the international academic community as Area Editor for the Journal of Interactive Marketing and ad-hoc reviewer for the Journal of Marketing Research and the International Journal of Research in Marketing, among others.

Prof. Dr. Christina Schamp places a strong emphasis on the practical relevance of her research and teaching. Before transitioning to academia, she worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, where she advised organizations on marketing and sales projects across various industries. Her experience includes collaborations with industry partners and being active in executive education across diverse topics such as digital marketing, AI literacy, critical thinking and data analysis, and top-down communication.

Beyond her research and professional achievements, Prof. Dr. Schamp is deeply committed to the personal development and mental well-being of students and young scholars in the digital age. During her time at McKinsey, she founded the Women's Initiative in Berlin, promoting inclusivity and support for women in the workplace. At WU Vienna, she runs the "Student Mental Well-Being Survey" among students, in collaboration with student counseling services, aiming to create a supportive and thriving academic environment.
