The workshop on Wealth Inequality, Intergenerational Mobility, and Equality of Opportunity took place on November 21-22, 2024. This two-day event, jointly organized by the Research Institute Economics of Inequality (WU Vienna), the International Inequalities Institute (London School of Economics and Political Science), and ZEW – Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research, brought together around 40 researchers and experts from various disciplines to discuss the measurement, causes, and consequences of wealth inequality and related topics.

The event featured two public keynote lectures by leading scholars in the field, Fabian Pfeffer (LMU) and Susan Dynarski (Harvard University).

Susan Dynarski

(Patricia Albjerg Graham Professor of Education, Harvard University)

Her research focuses on understanding and reducing inequality in education. She uses large-scale datasets and quantitative methods of causal inference to understand the effects of charter schools, financial aid, postsecondary schooling, class size, and high school reforms on academic achievement and educational attainment.

His work on social inequality, wealth, education, and quantitative methods appears in the American Sociological Review, the Annual Review of Sociology, Social Forces, the European Sociological Review, and other outlets.
