Credit Transfer

Please note that as of January 1st, 2010 only marketing and management courses with an international focus will be eligible for accreditation! Students who have already taken international management courses abroad prior to this new regulation and want them to be accredited will be handled on a case by case basis.

It is important for our Institute to facilitate the transfer of credits earned at foreign universities. The following overview will provide you with guidelines on how to get credit for courses completed abroad.

Procedures

Before you go abroad, it is imperative to contact the ZAS and Study Regulations Office (Studienrecht) for information concerning University recognition. Further information for Bachelor students can be found here. 

To facilitate the processing of your transfer request, we suggest you follow these steps:

  1. use the Internet to gather information on our courses (e.g., syllabus)

  2. decide on the course credits you would like to have transferred

  3. verify if the contents of the courses are comparable

  4. contact the Study Regulations Office to verify whether the course(s) you intend to do maybe accredited

  5. after your return from your studies abroad please contact the Study Regulations Office (Studienrecht) for recognition (https://www.wu.ac.at/universitaet/organisation/dienstleistungseinrichtungen/studienrecht-anerkennung/aufgaben-und-taetigkeitsbereiche/)

Our requirements

In order to evaluate whether contents and quality of courses attended abroad comply with the IMM specialization’s requirements, we require a course outline containing the topics covered and the literature used. Please send it to creditimm@wu.ac.at

When assessing the quality of other courses, we consider the following:

  • university's ranking

  • name and description of the course

  • course type and course modalities (syllabus)

  • recommended literature/reading list

  • mode of assessment and grading guidelines

  • quality of work demanded (e.g. real-life project, team work)

  • workload (no. of hours in class; ECTS credits, if available).
