The requirements for writing a Bachelor thesis at the Department of Marketing can be found here.

You can find the Bachelor thesis presentation here.

Prerequisites

  1. It is highly recommended but not mandatory that you enroll for the course "Academic Research Techniques" offered by the institute.

  2. We strongly recommend our Global Marketing Research course, if you are thinking of writing an empirical bachelor's thesis.

Topic and Research Question

For your bachelor's thesis you have two options:

(a) You can pick a company (one that you are in touch personally, or which you can research through secondary data) for a case study that offers an interesting international marketing challenge.

(b) You can select a topic in international marketing that is of interest to you and your potential supervisor.

The topic and/or research question of the thesis is usually discussed with a faculty member.

For an overview of IMM's fields of research, please visit the IMM research platform. For detailed information on our faculty members' research interests, please view the personal webpage of each faculty member. Furthermore, topic proposals will be occasionally sent out via our mailing list.

Time for completion

The suggested period of completion for a bachelor thesis is 6 months. If you don' t manage to make significant progress in writing your thesis within this period of time, you risk getting deregistered from your supervisor's list.

You receive 8 ECTS for the successful completion of your bachelor's thesis. The workload to complete your thesis is around 225 hours (approx. 28 working days).

Linguistic Correctness

Please make sure to use clear, correct and coherent language

  • use a spell checker in your word processor (e.g. in MS Word)

  • when writing your thesis in English, have a competent English native speaker proofread your text

Finishing your Thesis

After you have sent your supervisor the final version of your thesis, please upload your thesis on the learn@wu platform for the plagiarism check.
