Enhancing Certiff’s Product Communication: A User-Centered Approach following the Design Thinking Method

Executive Summary

Certiff is a digital certification management startup focused on the construction industry. It provides a centralized and secure platform for storing, verifying, and sharing certifications, ensuring that all employees are qualified for their tasks. The platform is designed to serve businesses, individuals, and educators, simplifying certification tracking and ensuring validity. By addressing challenges in certification management, Certiff offers a simple solution for construction companies to protect their workers and make projects safer. This solution saves time and ensures compliance, allowing companies to focus on delivering quality work while knowing that everyone is certified and qualified for the job.

Goal

Our collaboration with Certiff focused on enhancing its online presence and improving the way it communicates its value proposition. The primary objective was to optimize the usability and clarity of Certiff’s website, ensuring that potential users can easily navigate the platform and understand its benefits. By refining the website’s structure, content, and accessibility, we aimed to increase user engagement and adoption while strengthening Certiff’s market position.  

Methodology

To achieve these goals, we applied the Design Thinking approach, beginning with extensive user research. We conducted 20 in-depth interviews with students and professionals from various industries to identify their understanding of the website and the product's value. Based on these insights, we identified four key challenges related to user experience, navigation, and content clarity, which guided our ideation and prototyping phase. 

We developed a prototype of the website's landing page and tested multiple design iterations to create a more intuitive and user-friendly website. At the end, a Google form survey with our initial 20 intervieweesprovided valuable feedback on our proposed improvements. Additionally, we consulted a web developer to validate the usability and clarity of the redesigned platform.

Results

Through our collaboration, Certiff now has a redesigned website prototype that significantly improves usability, accessibility, and messaging clarity. The improved website ensures that users can effortlessly understand and engage with Certiff’s services, ultimately increasing adoption rates. The introduction of an explainer video provides a concise and engaging way to communicate the platform’s value, reducing the reliance on lengthy text explanations. Moreover, the structured framework and insights gained from this project equip Certiff with the tools to continuously refine its digital presence, supporting its long-term growth and market expansion.
