Roots

The Institute for Family Business at WU Vienna traces back to the third-party fincanced Research Institute for Family Business. This was founded in 2009 through the initiative of the Family Business Network (FBN) Austria, headed by Hermann Frank (from 2009 to 2021) and Alexander Keßler (from 2022 to 2024), and raised a significant amount of competitive research funding. Through its pioneering work, it has developed into an internationally acknowledged research center for family business.

In October 2023, the Institute for Family Business started its work as a regular university institute.
