Open Calls for collaboration with Asian and African universities and young researchers (ASEA-UNINET and Africa-UniNet)

In connection with this call, we would like to emphasize two aspects that are particularly relevant for researchers at WU who holds a "Venia Docendi", e.g. a Full or Associate Professor (“Habilitierte”):
You may be approached in the next few months as a potential supervisor of PhD/doctoral students from the five Southeast Asian countries.
If you would like to host PhD/doctoral students from these countries at WU/your institute and supervise them for 3 years, we can also act proactively and report your interest in supervising to the Southeast Asian partner universities. In this case, we would like to ask you to contact us.
Detailed information about this call can be found in the attachment and at the following link. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us or the WU representative in ASEA-UNINET Wolfgang Obenaus (wolfgang.obenaus@wu.ac.at).

4th Africa-UniNet call (OeAD) (Deadline: 30. November 2023)
The Austrian-African research network Africa-UniNet was launched in 2020 on the initiative of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF) and the Austrian Agency for Education and Internationalisation (OeAD). The Vienna University of Economics and Business is a founding member of the network. The aim is to establish a long-term and stable basis for cooperation between Austrian and African universities and research institutions. This allows the promotion of new contacts, the deepening of scientific cooperation and the development of innovative joint research projects.
The 4th call for submissions for Africa UniNet funding is currently open (01/09 - 30/11/2023). The thematic focus of the projects is generally not restricted, but submitted projects contribute to the objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Both Austrian and non-Austrian project partners can submit and coordinate projects. Please note, however, that only active member organisations of the research network can submit projects and that each member organisation may actively coordinate a maximum of two projects. Submissions can therefore only be made via the respective representative of the member organisation. For WU Vienna, this is Prof. Jonas Bunte, Ph.D. If you are interested in submitting a project, please contact Prof. Bunte directly and talk to him about your project idea.
All information on the open call can be found on the Africa-UniNet website: https://africa-uninet.at/en/activities/the-4th-call-2023
