Also among our accomplished members is Klaus Prettner, a professor of Macroeconomics and Digitalization at WU's Department of Economics. He habilitated in Mathematical Economics at Vienna University of Technology and holds a PhD in Economics from University of Vienna.

Klaus Prettner's research focuses on the macroeconomic effects of automation and digitalization, demographic change and economic growth as well as the causes and consequences of inequality. In recent years, he has worked on issues related to fertility decline in #Africa, the effects of health on economic outcomes (e.g., in #Asia), and international spillover effects between #CEE and the eurozone. In one of his latest works, he deals with the question Can education compensate for population decline?, addressing issues in the regions of Eastern Europe and East Asia.
