  • Key note speak by Andy Priestner: Letting go of certainty

There is no doubt we live in an uncertain world. In libraries this uncertainty arises from a myriad of competing demands, threats and opportunities such as AI, Open Science, sustainability. It could be argued that increasingly uncertainty is the only certainty and change the only constant. Other than accepting that is the case, what can be done?

Andy is a former business librarian (and President of EBSLG) Andy has been a freelance consultant and trainer since leaving the University of Cambridge in 2017. He has consulted with institutions as diverse as Stockholm Public Libraries in Sweden, the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand and, most recently, Queen's University Belfast in Northern Ireland. He regularly works around the world training library staff in user experience (UX) research and design. He is just as interested in library staff as he is in library users, and often provides consulting advice on workflows, morale and cultural transformation. He is currently fascinated by the topic of uncertainty, which he perceives as a valuable opportunity rather than a threat. https://andypriestnertraining.com/
