  • Key note speak by Andy Priestner: Letting go of certainty

There is no doubt we live in an uncertain world. In libraries this uncertainty arises from a myriad of competing demands, threats and opportunities such as AI, Open Science, sustainability. It could be argued that increasingly uncertainty is the only certainty and change the only constant. Other than accepting that is the case, what can be done?

  • Professional training session by Lorenz Huber: Leadership orchestra

In this leadership training session, you will be part of an orchestra, conduct and play music together with professional musicians. This is to understand the interaction of an effective team of experts and their needs in terms of agile leadership.

Lorenz Huber isa senior lecturer and researcher in Vienna. He founded the Leadership Orchestra in 2001 as a pioneer of the conducting training method. He is inspired by Balanced Leadership, which stimulates the team’s active interplay without overcontrol or undercontrol. His activities took him in particular to Austria, Belgium, Germany, Hungary, The Netherlands and Spain.

There will be an evening event at a typical Vienna wine location. Please have a look under social events.

  • Artificial Intelligence Workshop by Martin Giesswein

Martin Giesswein is faculty member of the WU Executive Academy focusing on AI, digital economy and leadership. His mission is to increase digital literacy in our society.
He pursues this goal as speaker, advisor, AI trainer and author. His latest book explores AI scenarios up to 2040.
Martin is co-initiator of digital humanist communities, value-based engineering projects and recently joined the European DRAIGON initiative as AI ethics advisor.

Martin will give us an actual AI tool demo to introduce the topic. This will be followed by business experiences with AI. In the workshop we will work on AI scenario building for Business School libraries, roles, functions and status in 5 years.

Late afternoon we will visit the Austrian National Library.

The conference dinner this evening will be at an old Pallais in the Vienna City.

Thursday May 22, 2025

In the morning there will be the regional business meetings of the participating organizations. The program for these sessions will be distributed by the organizations.

After lunch there will be an optional tour in the Vienna City. Please see more information under side events.

Friday May 23, 2025

There will be an optional full day excursion to the Abbey Melk with a private library tour and a visit of the World heritage Danube Valley. Please see details under side events.
