In their research, the authors demonstrate that taxes on the repatriation of foreign profits—such as repatriation taxes under a worldwide tax system or dividend withholding taxes—can reduce the economic efficiency of subsidiary-level investment in foreign jurisdictions. While host countries of foreign subsidiaries benefit from increased investment, these taxes impose efficiency costs on the shareholders of affected firms.

We warmly congratulate Harald Amberger and his co-authors!
