Andreas Dengel is Professor for Computer Science Education at the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main. After his studies for the teaching profession at secondary schools (computer science/economics), he worked as a research assistant at the universities of Passau and Würzburg. He received his doctorate on the topic of "Virtual Reality in Computer Science Teaching". Since 2021 he leads the professorship for Computer Science Education in Frankfurt as well as the "Engaging Computer Science Education" Laboratory (ECSE Lab), a classroom of the future. His research focuses on immersive learning with virtual reality and augmented reality, Computer Science Unplugged (computer science education without electricity) and media education.

Dengel has received various research and practice awards for his work, including being named to Germany's Forbes 30Under30 list. He is General Chair of the Immersive Learning Research Network (iLRN) conference, as well as head of the IEEE Technical Committee on Immersive Learning Environments (IEEE TC-ILE). In addition to his research and teaching, Dengel is an avid "Tricking" athlete and an advocate for mental health in academia.

Dr. Jose Garcia Estrada leads the Project “Integration of Virtual Technologies in learning and laboratory experiences” funded by the City of Vienna MA 23 at the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien. He was awarded a PhD in Computer Science by the University of Hull in United Kingdom. His research topic was co-located collaboration in virtual environments.

Dr. Garcia started his research in immersive technologies at the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics in Darmstadt, Germany. After obtaining his PhD. Dr Garcia carried out research at the University of Portsmouth at the School of Creative Technologies and the School of Computing in the United Kingdom. Afterwards he carried out research at the department of Education and Lifelong Learning at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway.

His research interests include adoption of immersive technologies in higher education, mixed reality human-machine interaction and emerging technologies in higher education and industrial training.

Mathias Janko is a 3D Artist with AR/VR and Audio-Visual Design background.
After three years at a secondary college for structural engineering technology, he transferred to a collage specialized in Multimedia-Art with focus on audio-visual media. In 2018, he graduated at the University of Applied Arts Vienna in the department for “Transmedial Art” under the direction of Prof. Brigitte Kowanz.

Since 2021, he has been working at WU Vienna in the "Digital Teaching Services" unit, mainly in the context of the projects “ENGAGE.EU” and “Future Learning Experience (FLEX)”. One aspect of both projects is the use of EdTech, such as Virtual Reality and 360° scenarios to gain experience and explore their suitability for didactic approaches. In close exchange with his colleagues from didactics, he has designed various didactic architectures to facilitate formal and informal learning on a virtual campus.

Valeria Ledermaier is currently pursuing her Bachelor's studies in Business Law and Business and Social Economics at WU Wien since the winter semester of 2019/2020 and 2021/22, respectively. Prior to that, she attended Handelsakademie Schwaz from 2014 to 2019, with a focus on Finance and Risk Management. Valeria has gained practical work experience in various roles. She is serving as the Head of the Educational Policy Department at ÖH WU, where she is coordinating commissions and conferences, organizing information events, and problem-solving for students. Additionally, she managed the cooperation between the Study Service Center and Departments at WU.

Valeria also provided assistance to the Top Management of Dr. Johannes Ausserladscheiter - European Court Experts, where she undertook administrative and organizational work, as well as research for reports. Valeria has also worked as an accounting and payroll clerk and provided client care at ASZ Wirtschaftstreuhand GmbH. She also worked as a receptionist and guest manager and communicated with local authorities for Ledermaier Loft & Lodges.

Due to her previous education and working experience she gained an interest in educational policy & internationalization. 

IIEP-UNESCO Programme Specialist

Michaela Martin has a track record of more than 25 years in research and teaching in higher education policy, governance and planning.

Prior to joining IIEP Programme Staff in 1990, Ms Martin studied Economics and Public Administration in Germany, France and Belgium at the Graduate and Post-graduate level. She holds a Post-graduate degree from the College of Europe, Bruges, Belgium, and a doctorate in education from the University of Paris.

Since she joined the UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP) in 1990, she has been specializing in resource management in higher education, the management of university-industry partnerships, indicator systems for the monitoring of higher education systems and governance reform in higher education. Since 2004, she has been in charge of an international research and training programme in the area of internal and external quality assurance in higher education. Since 2017, she is in charge of a research on flexible learning pathways in higher education.  

Over the years, she has published some 50 single or co-authored books, articles and several series of training modules, which have been used in many regional settings, and translated in several languages.

Florian Mosböck completed his master's degree in business education at the WU Vienna (Vienna University of Economics and Business) in 2020. Afterwards he joined WU’s Digital Teaching Services department as an e-developer.

He is an expert in the field of digital exams. During the Corona pandemic, he was involved in the development of the digital exam environment of the university and the conduction of online exams. In his expert role he also advises and supports the conception and planning of digital exams and offers training courses for teachers.

He is also part of the FLEX project team at WU. A sub-area of this project deals with virtual teaching concepts and spaces. Together with his colleagues, he is working on the implementation of these.

Director of Micro-credential Strategy and Innovation 

Dr Mairéad Nic Giolla Mhichíl was appointed to the post of Director of Micro-Credential Strategy and Innovation in 2021. Dr Nic Giolla Mhichíl leads DCU Studio, which was established in 2021 as an innovation and a development unit focused to drive and deliver at scale DCU’s T&L  strategy.  Dr Mairéad Nic Giolla Mhichíl provides key strategic leadership in the  micro-credentialing, short form, digital and flexible learning space at institutional national and European levels. She has been influential in shaping both national and European policy in this domain, working closely with the European Commission and UNESCO in the area of Micro-Credentials and is a regular keynote speaker and invited panelist at major conferences both nationally and internationally. She is currently a member of the National Steering Committee of the Micro-Creds projects, and she is micro-credential lead on behalf of the ECIU University Alliance.

Mairéad has attracted significant national and international funding to DCU for her research and teaching and learning initiatives including multiple Erasmus+ awards as PI and is currently leading the DigiAdvance project working with leading Universities across Europe and SMEs. Further to this she conducted the first national Irish employer and employee survey in conjunction with Skillnet networks on micro-credentials and is co-editor in chief of the Journal of the International Journal of Technology in Higher Education, Mairéad is also a formerTech Impact Scholar with the University of Notre Dame in the US.

In 2006, Margarethe Rammerstorfer earned her doctoral degree at WU with a dissertation focusing on regulation and finance. Until 2007, she worked at the WIK research institute for infrastructure and communications services in Bad Honnef, Germany. In 2007, following her desire to combine academic research and teaching, Margarethe Rammerstorfer decided to focus on fundamental research at a university again and returned to WU Vienna as a post-doc researcher working in the field of corporate finance. In 2013, she was appointed associate professor of finance and head of the Department of International Management at Modul University Vienna. In late 2016, she accepted the offer of a professorship at WU, where she became academic director of the Master’s Program in Finance and Accounting. On October 1, 2019, she joined the WU Rector’s Council as Vice-Rector for Academic Programs and Student Affairs.

Oliver Vettori is Dean for Accreditation and Quality Management and Director of the Department for Program Management and Teaching & Learning Support at Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU). He is responsible for WU’s international accreditations, managing WU’s program portfolio and central teaching and learning policies and processes.

As an expert in quality assurance and higher education development he has worked in 50+ countries over the past decade, namely for EUA, ENQA, ESU, UNESCO, EU-SHARE and various international higher education agencies and institutions. Oliver teaches courses on public management, research methodology, organizational behaviour and evaluation theory.

As a research associate at the Institute for Organization Studies (WU), he has authored numerous publications in the field of organization theory and culture, quality assurance, teaching & learning and curriculum development. He is involved in various European projects (e.g. ERASMUS+, HORIZON2020) and currently coordinates the teaching and learning efforts of the ENGAGE.EU alliance.

Thérèse Zhang is the Deputy Director for Higher Education Policy at the European University Association (EUA). In this capacity, she contributes to develop the Association’s work in areas such as learning and teaching in higher education, lifelong learning, global relations with other regions of the world, and European policy making in higher education at large.

Thérèse has been active in higher education policy/management and, more generally, project management in education and culture, for over fifteen years. Her experience covers activities in the field of quality management, institutional development, evaluation methodologies, and pedagogy.

Thérèse holds a PhD in Romance Philology and a Master in European Studies from the Université catholique de Louvain, Belgium. She completed part of her education at the University of Bologna, Italy, and at Brown University, United States.
