Biographical Sketch

Julia Flir is a research associate at the Research Institute for Urban Management and Governance at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU). She studied law at the University of Vienna and at the University of Edinburgh. Subsequently, she completed her doctoral degree in public law at the University of Vienna. In her doctoral thesis she examined legal issues concerning fines under the General Data Protection Regulation.

She gained experience as a legal associate in a law firm, as an intern at the environmental law division of Vienna’s environmental protection authority (MA 22), as a research associate at the Institute for Constitutional and Administrative Law at the University of Vienna and as a scientific staff member at the Constitutional Court of Austria.

Research Interests

Julia’s current research interests include questions of environmental and constitutional law as well as the interplay between EU law and national law.
