The AI 101 Masterclass by Lumos is an introductory workshop designed for students willing to explore the foundations of AI and data science. The session includes a lecture on core AI concepts and an interactive coding session tailored to different skill levels. Beginners will gain hands-on experience in AI programming, while more advanced participants will work on a small case study with Lumos guidance. We will make it accessible to business-minded attendees, but a minimal programming setup would be required, to which we will provide instructions upfront.

• Introduction to AI & Machine Learning – Overview of key concepts and their real-world applications 

• Essential Foundations – Core principles in statistics, data science, and AI development 

• Interactive Coding Session (Two groups): 

  • Beginners: First hands-on AI programming experience in Deepnote/Google Colab 

  • Advanced: Case study analysis using an open dataset with Lumos mentorship 

• Discussion & Q&A – Open floor for questions, insights, and future learning paths

Additional Information

• This Workshop will be held in English.

• The participants need to have a laptop for the interactive part of the workshop to execute code with Jupyter notebooks (.ipynb files). For people who had no experience with programming, registering using Google Colab or Deepnote (https://deepnote.com) would suffice. Both are web-based resources, so a tablet would be fine, although we recommend using a laptop still. People with experience in coding can use the typical environments, like Visual Studio Code or Jupyter Lab. In order to ensure everyone has a working notebook setup, we will provide you with a simple task that everyone would have to complete before the workshop. Completing this task is mandatory for participation.
