At the IOD, we are starting the year off just as we ended it, with another inspiring talk in the Female Scholar Program! This time, we had the privilege of welcoming Ruth V. Aguilera, professor for Global Business at Northeastern University, as a speaker.

Ruth’s research focuses on strategic organization, economic sociology and global strategy, specializing in international corporate governance and corporate social responsibility. In her talk, Ruth shared her personal experience and advice on "Careers in the US vs. Europe, and Work-life Balance with Kids". Our Female Scholar community got to learn how to strategically transition between different continents and educational systems, build a network, and get ready for the job market. Ruth also shared the challenges of balancing the diverse responsibilities of an academic career and personal life. Her advice to junior scholars: “Figure out who you want to be and stay focused!”
