Personal details
Sigrid Stagl is an economist at the department of socioeconomics and specializes in issues of sustainable labor, ecological macroeconomics, integrated valuation methods and socioeconomic theories of trade; her empirical focus lies on energy and food. Previously, she did research at the University of Leeds and the University of Sussex. After her diploma program at the WU Wien, she continued her PhD studies at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York, where she obtained the world’s first doctorate in Ecological Economics. Furthermore, she held positions in the governance of the European Society for Ecological Economics (ESEE). At the WU she founded the Institute for Ecological Economics and is program director of the MSc Socio-Ecological Economics and Policy (SEEP).
